About the arboretumA Green Story That Lasts
At the foot of the wine-growing region, not far from Varaždin, lies Arboretum Opeka – the oldest and largest arboretum in Croatia. Founded in the 19th century around Opeka Castle, the park was created through the vision of Count Marko Bombelles, who brought rare and exotic plant species from his travels.
Today the arboretum covers about 64 hectares, with over 100 domestic and foreign species of trees and shrubs. Every path leads through a landscape that combines horticultural expertise, natural beauty and noble history.
Arboretum Opeka is not just a park – it is a living space where nature and heritage breathe in the same rhythm, accessible to all who wish to step into the silence of canopies and history.
